Free Author Visits
We’re excited to share that local children’s author, Marion, is sharing ‘Billy Bunny and the Woodpecker Nest’ with FREE school visits.
During this visit the story will be shared in an afternoon assembly using natural arts and crafts, teddies and audience participation to bring it to life. It's a wonderful way to inspire a love of stories, connection to nature and creativity in children.
Get in touch today to book a session for your school.

How does it work
We schedule a visit that suits both Marion and your setting. Depending on the number of children we may ask for one, two or even three assemblies to take place in an afternoon.
On the day, Marion will arrive and set up her materials ready to tell the story. The children will have the opportunity to share their ideas, come up to test whether rafts sink or float, put eggs into a nest and even spot the ladybird on each page.
At the end of the story children are able to ask questions. With older children we sometimes discuss how a story is put together and what inspired the ideas. It's a wonderful session and a great way to promote, reading, writing, a connection to nature and lots of creativity!
After the assemblies, Marion will move to the playground where families can purchase a copy and get it signed by her.
It's a very wholesome and memorable experience that we're sure your school will love!
FAQs
Which ages is this best suited to?
The story is aimed at children aged 4-9, although younger and older are also very welcome to join us. As the children get older, I find that they engage brilliantly with the story - sharing their knowledge and experiences of the natural world and feeling inspired to write their own stories after.
Do we have to buy a copy of the book?
Families and schools can purchase a copy of the book on the day if they wish but there is no obligation. I do ask that families are made aware of the special visit ahead of time and that I am able to set up in the playground at the end of the day for those who would like to buy a copy.
We're not a school but would love a visit. Would you come and see us?
Sure! Although this scheme is aimed at schools, I have also visited preschools, nature settings and book shops. I would love to share my book with your setting. Get in touch today so we can make it happen!
A work of friendship
Author, Marion Zielentino, and Illustrator, Claire Warwick, have been close friends for over a decade and this project was an absolute joy for them to bring to life. It has inspired many more projects to come and they are both incredibly proud to have created this beautiful storybook to be enjoyed for generations to come.
