-
My stories began when my daughter was two years old and I used them to explain tricky situations, help with bedtimes and to develop my children's emotional intelligence.
Our stories grew from the challenges we were facing at home; learning how to share, it's okay to lose, enjoying bath times and developing a love of nature. As a mother, I found that it was the perfect way to reflect on the day and that my children were able to apply parts of the story to their lives - especially if they had discussed it with me and shared their own ideas!
Our main character, Billy Bunny, is a mixture of my sons Ben and Noah. He sometimes struggles with losing a game or gets grumpy if things don't go his way, but he also has a heart of gold, is a brilliant friend and is always ready to help someone in need. While Squirrel Lily is very much my daughter's character, extremely chatty, kind, quick thinking and excitable. Together, they learn new things in the forest, help each other to grow and make plenty of new friends.
Many of the stories are inspired by real children and their experiences and most of the characters are based on children who come to my clubs. It's delightful seeing their faces light up when they are part of a story and to include their contributions.
All of the stories are designed to help children develop their emotional intelligence, while also learning about the natural world and having a giggle along the way. They happened by accident really. I'm just a mum who likes telling stories to my children.
I hope your child enjoys the stories too - happy listening!
