What does a session look like?

Storytime
Storytelling for these sessions is very interactive and uses toys, puppets, music and silly voices to bring stories to life. We start sessions with a short mindfulness activity before jumping into our story.
Children are encouraged to contribute to our story with, 'what do you think will happen next?' or 'how do you think Billy feels?'. Encouraging them to create the story with Marion and to develop their emotional and cognitive intelligence.
The story is left open-ended to inspire play and natural arts and crafts.
Play
Children then have the opportunity to roam and choose what interests them most. We use mostly natural materials and encourage children to forage in their environment to add to their creations.
I have a large selection of natural loose parts for children to build with and create small worlds with. Often these are inspired by the story e.g. a playground for 'Billy Bunny and Mr Fox's Birthday Surprise'. But, children are also encouraged to play in their own way and create their own stories or games.
Natural arts and crafts
We also have a craft available, which ties into the story. For example, mud painting for 'Billy Bunny and Livvy Piggy' or nest making for 'Billy Bunny and the Lost Egg'.
We use lots of natural materials to create a sensory experience and wonderful treasures to keep.
Ending
Finally, we come back together to share our artwork and the rest of the story with a little snack (provided). Please note that while we would love to cater for all, this may not be suitable if your child has allergies, intolerances or dietary requirements. Please feel free to bring your own small snack.
All craft materials are included, and children can take them home at the end of the session.
Podcast - let the magic continue
Stories are also recorded and uploaded to the Story Meadow Podcast for children to listen to whenever they like!
